Terms of Service
Last updated 27 July 2026
The short version
- Membership is free. Use your real identity, one account per person.
- Follow the Community Guidelines.
- What you post stays yours; you let us show it here.
- Don't republish members-only recordings.
- Events, popstops and the talent board are member-run. Use your judgement.
These terms cover lunatechs.social, app.lunatechs.social and our chapter sites. Using them means you accept these terms. If you don't, don't use them.
1. Who we are
Lunatechs is a community of tech enthusiasts, with chapters in Hong Kong, Singapore, Los Angeles and Kuala Lumpur. Reach us at info@lunatechs.social.
2. Your account
- Membership is free, and we can decline or end it.
- One account per person, with details that are actually yours. Don't impersonate anyone, and don't hand your account to someone else.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else is using it.
- You must be 16 or over.
- Your handle is yours while you're a member. We may reclaim handles that impersonate someone, pass for official, or sit unused on a closed account.
3. How to behave
The Community Guidelines are part of these terms. In short: no harassment, hate, spam, scams, doxxing or impersonation. We can remove content or accounts that break them, and for serious cases we'll do it without warning.
Comments are screened automatically before they appear, and repeatedly triggering that screen adds a waiting period. Members can report content; admins can remove it.
4. What you post
- You keep ownership of everything you post — comments, listings, popstops, photos.
- You give us permission to store, display and distribute it within Lunatechs so the community works. Nothing exclusive, and it ends when the content does.
- Only post what you have the right to post. Not someone else's work, not confidential material from your employer.
- We can remove anything that breaks these terms, and we're not obliged to keep or back up what you post.
5. Members-only content
Some things here — recordings, talks, internal material — are for members, and some need specific approval on top of that.
- Access is personal and non-transferable. Don't share links, don't lend your account.
- Don't re-record, re-upload or republish a recording anywhere.
- Speakers agree to be recorded for this community. Passing it outside breaks that agreement, not just our rules.
- Access can be withdrawn, and content can be taken down — at a speaker's request, or if these terms are broken.
6. Events and popstops
A popstop is a member telling others where they are. Anyone can join one; members are the ones who call them.
- You attend at your own risk. We don't vet venues, hosts or attendees, and we're not responsible for what happens at a gathering.
- Whoever calls a popstop isn't acting as an agent of Lunatechs.
- Follow the venue's rules and the law where you are.
- We may remove a popstop, and may stop someone from calling them.
7. The talent board
Members post jobs, gigs, tutoring and availability. We don't vet listings, the people posting them, or the people replying. We're not a party to anything that follows, not an employment agency, and not responsible for what's agreed. Check who you're dealing with before money or contracts change hands.
8. Merchandise
Merch purchases run through our store and are covered by the terms shown at checkout, including anything about delivery, returns and refunds.
9. Ending it
Leave whenever you like — email us and we'll close your account (see the Privacy Notice for what gets deleted). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the community at risk. Sections 4, 5, 10 and 11 survive.
10. No warranty
Lunatechs is run by volunteers and provided "as is". We don't promise the site will be available, that content is accurate, or that nothing will be lost. We're not responsible for anything outside our control, including third-party services we rely on.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, Lunatechs and its organisers aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using the site, attending an event, or dealing with another member. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes get the date above updated and members told. Carrying on using Lunatechs means accepting the new version.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
